A Letter from Grace
Sometimes the path before us is clear only for a few steps.
We would prefer to see farther.
We want to know where the road is leading, what tomorrow will bring, and how the questions we carry will finally be answered.
This week, Grace takes an evening walk beyond the woodland gate at Rose Hollow.
As daylight fades and the familiar garden path grows dim, she is reminded that perhaps we were never meant to see the entire journey at once.
Perhaps we are simply called to walk faithfully in the light we have been given.
Scripture
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” — Psalm 119:105
Reflection
There is comfort in knowing where we are going.
We like plans.
We like answers.
We like being able to see enough of the road ahead to feel certain that everything will be all right.
But faith does not always offer us that kind of certainty.
Sometimes God gives us something quieter.
Enough light for today.
Grace discovers this as evening settles over the Woodland Garden.
The path she has walked many times looks different in the fading light.
Stones she scarcely noticed during the day require more careful steps.
Later, when darkness comes, she lights the small lantern she has carried in her basket.
Its light reaches only a short distance ahead.
Yet it is entirely sufficient.
The path has not become shorter.
Only clearer.
Perhaps this is one of the gentlest lessons of Psalm 119:105.
God's Word is described as a lamp unto our feet—not a blazing light revealing every mile ahead.
A lamp gives enough light to take the next step.
And then another.
We may wish to see tomorrow.
God gives us grace for today.
We may want the entire path explained.
He asks us to trust Him one faithful step at a time.
Perhaps we do not need to know how everything will unfold.
Perhaps we only need enough light to recognize where He is asking us to place our feet next.
Consider This Week
Spend a few quiet moments asking yourself:
What is the next faithful step God has placed before me?
Try not to solve the entire journey.
Instead, consider what belongs to today.
Write it in your journal, take a quiet walk, or sit for a few moments with Psalm 119:105.
Let the Lord's Word remind you that you do not have to see the whole road in order to keep walking.
