A Letter from Grace
There is something comforting about watching a gardener tend a wandering vine.
The gardener does not discard the branch because it has grown in the wrong direction.
With patience, it is lifted, guided, and returned to the support prepared for it.
This week, Grace writes from the garden after receiving Eleanor’s letter and the pressed climbing rose she enclosed.
As Grace works among her own climbing vines, she begins to see something familiar in the gardener’s patient hands—and something of the way our Heavenly Father tends us.
Scripture
"But now, O Lord, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.” — Isaiah 64:8
Reflection
There are seasons when we wish we could understand exactly what God is doing.
We want to know why a certain path has changed.
Why something familiar has been taken away.
Why we are being asked to bend in a direction we did not choose.
Yet a gardener sees something the branch cannot.
The gardener knows where the support is.
He knows which growth must be redirected and which branches need time.
And most importantly, his hands are not working against the garden.
They are tending it.
Perhaps God's work in our lives is often like this.
We may feel the gentle pull of redirection without yet understanding where He is leading us.
We may mistake pruning for loss or correction for interruption.
But Scripture reminds us that we are the work of His hand.
We are not growing unattended.
The Gardener is present.
And the hands shaping our lives belong to the One who already knows what we are becoming.
Consider This Week
Spend a few quiet moments asking yourself:
Where might God be gently redirecting me rather than simply removing something from my life?
Write your thoughts in your journal, tend a plant or garden if you have one, or spend a few moments outdoors noticing how quietly living things respond to patient care.
